Sex Therapy in Denver

Some people have a good relationship and are bored in their sex life and want a third party with training in sexuality, communication, intimacy, and relationships to talk with to know if they are 'normal'. If you aren't sure, give us a call 720.457.3342 and one of our sex therapists can hop on the phone and answer the questions that you have. Or send an email to admin@CounselingCenterofCherryCreek.com.

If your spouse is not yet interested in counseling, that’s ok! You can still come into our counseling office by yourself! We offer Couples Therapy for One specifically for this situation.

Many of our clients have found relationship relief by coming in, meeting with a counselor, and starting the healing process on their own. There is no shame in attending Couples Therapy for One. Commonly, one party is interested in couples counseling while the other person is hesitant. Often, however, when one party begins attending couples counseling, the other party soon develops an interest.

Do not get upset if your partner is hesitant about beginning couples therapy. Until they are ready to meet, you can still work with your therapist, build trust, and start sorting out some of the more significant issues in your relationship.

Contact Our Client Ambassador

If you feel like it is time for something to change, it only takes one person to get the process started!

Still not sure? Give us a call right now at (720) 457-3342, and our helpful client ambassador can answer any of your questions. We are currently accepting new clients, and we have couples therapy for one sessions that can begin immediately.

It's pretty common that couples come in because their sex lives have become stale after many years or decades if the same routine.

Sex Therapy

The great thing about working with a therapist that is BOTH a licensed marriage and family therapist AND a certified sex therapist is that we can work from all angles -- looking at your communication, healing past hurts/barriers to hot sex, erotic languaging, how you grow anticipation for *wanting* sex, and also the mechanics. You might be surprised to hear that many couples do not know how to talk about sex -- how to talk about what they want, what they don't want, what they fantasize about, and what they may be interested in exploring. Learning to talk about these things with a trained professional in the room can be so very helpful for a couple to jumpstart their desire and open a new chapter in their committed relationship!

Contact Our Office

Getting bored with your sex life is totally normal! Often there are just a few fine-tuning things that we can do help you move into a new space that is more desirable for you both. Call us today and we will get you in for your first appointment, 720.457.3342.

Clinicians who are trained in sex therapy help people with a wide variety of issues related to sex, sexuality, intimacy, and connection. Many of our clients come to us because they do not have the sex life that they want or maybe they have heard about "open marriages" and are interested in exploring that with someone who is knowledgeable.

What To Expect During a Session

During sessions, your sex therapist will ask you lots of questions, be curious about you (don't worry! It is hard to shock a sex therapist!) and what is happening in your life. Often, we will ask some very detailed questions...to help us understand the nature of the issue or problem that you are bringing in. Sex therapists do not touch their clients. We are still "talk therapists" and sometimes can work like a "sex educator" providing information, tips, and tools but we aren't like a massage therapist or other healer that is licensed to touch their clients.

If you are not sure if your concern would warrant working with a sex therapist, call us today and our Client Ambassador will help you! Call 720.457.3342. We are easy to talk to and used to talking about all kinds of things. ;-)

Divorce Recovery

Such a great question -- and one that we get all of the time!

Discernment Counseling

If you are doing Discernment Counseling with one of our certified therapists than this process will take 5-7 sessions. This, of course, is a ballpark depending on what you and your partner bring in to our work together. Unlike marriage counseling, Discernment Counseling is a particular process that is designed to help people untangle where they are at now in a relationship, where they want to go, and what will be required if they decide to venture there.

Once you and your partner have achieved some clarity than couples counseling might be warranted in order to address the places where you were stuck prior to coming in. In most cases, your discernment counselor can continue working with you on marriage counseling as well!

Online Therapy

No not at all. It is illegal unless you give us written consent, but we don’t do that anyway.

We have a paperless system accessible via our online portal. Click here to get started.  There is no need for printing hard copies of these documents anymore, and they are available electronically or in paper on request.

We will prorate the session after the first 15 minutes.  If the session ends due to technical problems before 15 minutes you will not be charged.

Recent research indicates that online therapy is just as effective as in-person therapy for individuals and couples.  Many of our clients that have switched to teletherapy/online therapy are asking if they can continue with the remote sessions, even after the risk of Covid-19 has subsided.  See the 10 reasons on our Online Therapy service page.

Currently we are offering a discount if you use our Telatherapy service.  Ask your therapist about the online therapy discount.

Your therapist will call you back on the same platform and we will try at least two more times, if it doesn’t work we will call you on the phone to troubleshoot the situation or reschedule.

We can use the video on screen and if you have a second phone we can use that for audio.

We can absolutely see you over your phone.  Although we recommend a tablet or computer; the important thing is to get the help you need when you need it.  We typically use Zoom, but we can also use FaceTime for apple devices, Skype, and VSEE if that is better.

We offer all the same services we would offer in a face to face setting.

We encourage the use of the Zoom application, But we can use any application listed above, see the first question.

Couples Therapy

What a great question!

People ask us this all of the time...and not surprisingly, it is not a very straightforward answer. It's a bit like asking your personal trainer, "How long will it take for me to lose 20 pounds?"

Couples Counseling

It totally depends on so many factors. Your motivation...if you are in couples counseling...your partner's motivation, what your goals are, if you do your *homework* outside of your meetings with your therapist, etc.

What helps your efficiency is getting clear on your goals -- this is a huge part of your therapist's job...to help you get clear on your goals. And if there are two of you in the session, then helping both of you get clear on what you are working towards.

We can tell you, that it is our job to work ourselves out of a job. Really, it is!

That means, we want you to succeed! We want this to be an efficient process for all of our clients. If you want it to be more efficient, ask your therapist what you can do to help things move along faster...I bet she might have a suggestion.

If your spouse is not yet interested in counseling, that’s ok! You can still come into our counseling office by yourself! We offer Couples Therapy for One specifically for this situation.

It depends on the couple and what they need. Every situation is different, which is why our clinical team takes a unique approach to every couple and client. Some couples require extensive individual work as part of their overall counseling, while others benefit from mainly working together with a joint therapist in the same room.

There are times when working with each partner individually is useful, and other times when only working with the couple together is more productive. Our approach can even vary from week to week and from session to session.

The techniques we will use depend on your relationship, your current struggles, and your commitment to your treatment. The more often you visit our Cherry Creek counseling center, the faster and more effectively we can help you.

When you have your initial meeting with your therapist, we will assess your particular situation and recommend what seems best for you and your partner. We will most likely recommend a combination of individual time as well as joint time with you and your partner.

Couples Therapy For One

couples therapy for one | cherry creek counseling | cherry creek coGreat question!

First of all, well done you for having the courage to seek support for your relationship. It can be tough to show up alone.

Secondly, we understand that every marriage is made up of 2 moving parts: you and your partner. A bit like a yin and yang. When one partner starts to change, the other partner will behave differently...because half of the system started to shift. There is no magic pill here, but we can tell you that this does work to create new, different and sometimes unexpected results at home.

Finally, your therapist's job is to help you understand your role in your relationship, your yin to his yang, as it were. Her job is not to tell you that he is bad, wrong, or broken -- or whether or not you should leave him...but rather, she will hold up a mirror for you so that you can see what you are saying, thinking, or doing that is contributing to a relationship that feels stuck or broken. This process helps to create a clear map or guide as to how to best move forward.

Research tells us that YES, therapy works!

Sometimes people will ask WHAT makes therapy work...is it the number of years in practice, is it the KIND of therapy, or the TYPE of training. As strange as it may sound...it is none of these!

Don't get us wrong, having a trained, licensed professional is very important to reaching your goals.

However, the most important quality that will determine if therapy will "work" for you...whether or not you like your therapist. I'm serious.

Likability out-ranks all other qualities.

What is important to us is that you have a chance to connect with your therapist and see if you just like her. When you feel like your therapist "gets" you then the work starts to flow and you can really get some traction moving to where you want to be.

Contact Our Office

Give us a call...and see if one of our therapists would be a good fit for you!

Really, call us right now (720) 457-3342, we almost always answer the phone...and if we miss the call, we will get back to you usually within an hour or two. It's because we like people...and we like what we do.

Pre-marital and Pre-commitment Therapy

More than ever it is common for couples to seek premarital counseling. Think about it, we hire professionals to help us lose weight, decorate our homes, and ski down a mountain! Hiring a relationship expert to help with one of the biggest decisions of our lives just makes sense!

One of the great parts of working with one of our trained couples therapists is that we get to meet you right now -- when things are kind of awesome. We will get to know you and your soon-to-be spouse and give you some guidance on optimizing your communication and connection...and then, down the road, if (when!) things get bumpy, you can just pop back in for a tune up...no big deal.

Meeting With a Couples Therapist

What we tend to find is that if you don't have a relationship with a couples therapist before getting married, it makes it so much harder to find someone who you connect with when you desperately need the help. This can be a huge deterrent to getting the help that could make or break your relationship. And, with the divorce rates holding steady of 50% what we know is that hitting rocky times is the norm rather than the exception.

So, premarital counseling is a kind of insurance policy for your marriage.

Want to learn more? Call today, (720) 457-3342, and one of our therapists will answer the questions that you have. We have trained professionals standing by waiting to help you.

VIP Sessions, 3 & 5 hour options

Many couples (and some individuals!) are now choosing extending therapy sessions rather than weekly therapy.

Think of it as a private workshop.

(Don't worry, during this sessions, you will have a break, usually every 60 minutes or so to refresh your tea, stretch your legs and use the restroom!)

What many therapists (and clients) find is that with the standard one-hour therapy session, you just start getting to the *good stuff* and then time is up! So frustrating!

Then of course, because you need to head back to work or go pick up the kids, you pack everything emotionally back up, go on with the week, and then when you finally get back into therapy the next week, you have totally lost momentum from the prior session, and you can feel like you just start all over again.

VIP Sessions

During your VIP Session, you can expect to take a deep dive into the places where you are stuck in your relationship AND...get a clear map to help move you forward. Often we hear that clients are frustrated with couples therapy because they feel like they "aren't getting anywhere" and just rehash the same feelings over and over again. This is not what couples therapy needs to be like! You should leave every session with another piece or step to help you move forward!

And, if you have a solid 3-5 hours, you should have LOTS of steps to help you get the traction that you want to get from here to there!
